COMMON project: local working group in Monastir, Tunisia, to reduce marine litter

The Institut National des Sciences et Technologies de la Mer (INSTM), one of COMMON project partners, organized the first local working group of the project on 9 October, a training for local stakeholders in order to promote the relationship between marine litter reduction and the Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM).

In view of the current health crisis and social distancing recommendations, the COMMON project team at INSTM organized a remote meeting aimed to meet and present the training list to all members selected for the local working group to build cross-border capacity for coastal institutional staff and all stakeholders of the target areas related to planning an integrated management of the coast.

The event was attended, among others, tourist establishments, representatives of associations, fishermen and companies committed to promoting environmental sustainability, in addition to the municipality of Monastir.

The presentation of the project was followed by a productive exchange of views and experiences.
